Dentures – Partial & Complete

Sometimes accidents happen that cause missing teeth. Poor oral health or disease can also leave you with only a few natural teeth. So we might suggest dentures or visiting your prosthodontist (specialist in facial and cosmetic restoration) to restore your smile!

There are two types of dentures: partial and complete: both require an impression of your teeth that get made in a dental lab and then return for placement.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are named “removable dentures” or “partials. because they can be removed from the teeth and only used for when a few teeth are missing.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are known as “false teeth” or “full dentures” and are needed when all your teeth are gone.

These complete dentures can be removable as they are held in place by suction (unless you have dental implants secure them permanently in place).
*Note: They’ll take some getting used to and may cause soreness in the mouth.

Caring for Your Dentures

Whenever you need to clean your dentures, rinse them in water to remove food particles and then apply soap or denture cleaner using a soft-bristle toothbrush to clean above and under your dentures where bacteria can hide.
*Note: Regular cleaners and toothpaste can be abrasive and are not recommended for cleaning your dentures.
